Halls of Residence

In your first year, you are guaranteed a place in one of the halls of residence. Everyone has their favourite, and below you'll find some reasons why. Halls are the best way to get to know people, and often work out a lot cheaper than living in flats. They have their advantages and disadvantages, such as having someone else cooking for you, which I think falls into both categories.
Whichever hall you've been allocated though, the atmosphere is up to you. Hall life is what you make it. Have fun!

Both me and a good friend are thinking about going to St Andrews next year. Is it possible at all for us to get shared accomodation [not student flats, in one of the halls?].

I know people have done this on a number of occasions before, so it is possible.

I would advise making accomodation services aware that you have a "ready-made" roommate as early as you can.

on your application put the hall you want down in the preferences or extra info bit. also, find out what kind of rooms that hall has and ask for that kind. that will make it more likely for you to get. also, ask early
