The Calendar 2009
Ma Bells
Yah Bells, or what you will...

Located underneath the Golf Hotel on the Scores, this is supposedly a notorious yah hangout. However, while the yahs do frequent it in abundance, there are enough wannabes and "normal" people to shift the balance nicely. Dress ranges from rugby shirts and jeans to evening wear and heels.

Weekends are always busy so show up early if you want a seat or else stroll in late and nonchalantly lean against the bar. Make sure you score yourself a Ma Bells card which gets you 3 for 2 drinks until 10 or 11 (I can never remember which, which is always bad when buying rounds) and pitchers for £7.50. Tuesday nights are also great as they are "Cheese Night" and a most excellent selection of cheesy songs from the eighties and nineties are played.

Food is pretty good too and resonably priced - a burger will run you about £2.50. Attractive staff, a spacious atmosphere - all the better for packing the people in on Friday nights - great views from the big windows overlooking the sea. Dress up and shake it with the upper crust or dress down and laugh at the people shaking it from the comfort of your pint. An excellent time is almost always guaranteed and you will surely find yourself at Ma Bells within your first few weekends in St Andrews.

burger prices

I like mabelles and do not find it too yah to hang out, at least they don't bite anyone so no problem there.

food is good, I agree, but unfortunately the burgers are nowhere near as cheap as you say, there is the chicken burger for about 3.75 but then real burgers (cheese burger etc.) are all in the 4.25 if not 4.75 range. quite expensive in my opinion.
