Bruce. Many students who have no direct contact with him will think of Bruce only as "the scary man who is always angry". Those students who do get to know Bruce tend to think of him as "the scary man who is sometimes angry and gives vegetables to those he likes".

A former student of the university, Bruce is in charge of the union building itself. You might spot him overseeing the ents crew setting up the lights in Venue 1, or strolling along the corridors making sure everything is running to plan. He might even talk to you, but you probably won't realise it until he's gone.

How will you recognise Bruce? By his hat, that and his seeming reluctance to wear anything other than a sweatshirt and jeans. It's more than likely you will see him, of an evening, enjoying a well-earned pint, or six, in the Main Bar. If you do, then you might just see his gruff exterior but rest assured, under that gruff exterior is an equally gruff interior.

But under that is hiding a friendly and funny personality. Just don't get on the wrong side of him - he is justifiably proud of the Union and does not take kindly to any behaviour that he considers to be anti-social.

By the way, Bruce is not his real name. His real name is..........................Endeavour
