Introduction
Musfund (short for "The Music Fund") is a Sub Committee of the Union (or a "super society"). Musfund organizes, funds, supports and give a general hearty thumbs up, smile, and a "how can we help?!" to all things Musical in St Andrews. Musfund plays mum to the Music societies Rocksoc, Altsoc, Ravesoc, and any other society who is interested at hosting Live Music at one of their events (in the sense of - Musfund leaves them to their own devices but lend money and support when needed). Musfund can also arrange free rehearsal space for bands, fund educational musical trips, and can help anyone who wants to put on an event do so successfully and with the best resources the union has to offer.
You could say "Musfund is the Mermaids for Music" and you'd be half right....Musfund does that and MORE, by hosting it's own events as well as supporting others in hosting events.
Aims
To advance music and musicians in St Andrews.
Meetings
The meetings take place on the sofa's in the unions main bar on Tuesdays at 6. They are recognisable by the mass of purple hoodies which the committee recently bought. Everyone is welcome to come to ask the committee for help or even to offer their help with up coming events.

Large gigs like Idlewild who played on the 13th of December 2008.
Musfund also help with grants and loans for musicians and music related society activities. Bands looking for a place to practice can also book rehearsal time in the beer bar through musfund.
Sub-Committee Strengths
The Sub-Committee holds regular events (often several times a week) which have a good attendance. Several of the events have a strong regular following by the fans of particular genres, many of which aren't catered for by the musical societies or other groups within St Andrews. The number of trained Ents in Musfund means that they can also do a lot internally, without the need for outside help.
Areas to Improve
Musfund has recently had some trouble with advertising although this appears to be improving thanks to a committee reshuffle. Improvements are also needed with Musfunds links to other music societies and their role in that capacity needs better definition.
