Societies and other Extracurricular Activities

Primarily, societies and other groups exist as a means for like-minded students to get together and explore their passions and interests, from the altruistic to the hedonistic. Some are affiliated societies, but don't forget that there are other clubs and teams which offer a similar sort of opportunity - for instance, the Design Team is not a society as such, but if you are interested in graphic design and seeing your posters about town, it's worth investigating. I can't emphasise enough that if you choose to ignore the opportunities offered by societies and such, you will be greatly impoverising your university experience, losing chances to make great friends, have tons of fun, learn new skills and not least you shall be diminishing your CV.
