This Scream theme pub can be found almost opposite the Union at 5, Alexandra Place. Acutely angled towards students they run a Yellow Card scheme, which allows the holder to get money off all of their purchases, and is therefore extremely popular.

Inside, the pub is more modern that some of those in town, probably because it is one of the newest drinking establishments after the franchise took over from The Firkin in 2001. Large windows create an airy atmosphere in the day, and seating takes the form of a mixture of settees, stools and chairs, and most of these are rather comfortable. As one of the most popular and central pubs in town, The Raisin does get insanely busy at night, but during the day it tends to be far quieter. Drinks are varied, but tend to be of a similar price to other establishments; pints are about £2.20 and Coke is £1.10 a pint, but both are cheaper with the showing of a Yellow Card. Stella Artois is the main lager, but there are other drinks that include Guinness and Strongbow and several types of bottled beer. There are also vodka slush puppies, which sound strange but are rather refreshing. Soft drinks are well represented here also.

Entertainment is provided by several quiz machines on the lines of 'The Weakest Link' and Who Wants to be a Millionaire,' which are popular, but as people win more during the day the standard gets harder. Widescreen televisions show sport and cartoons during the day, but are also linked up to the video jukebox, which is updated regularly, and goes all the way from Madness to Linkin Park via Kylie. There is also a normal jukebox for when the video one is not working. The Raisin also has three pool tables which cost £1 a play, but these are very popular and can be difficult to get a game on. The walls are also annoying because there isn't a whole cue length between the table and these, and can be rather frustrating. Like most other St Andrews pubs, The Raisin has a quiz night, and this is on a Thursday.
