Guitars....
I'm hoping to take up the electro-acoustic guitar, and get some lessons this summer. I've heard that Ovation make some pretty special ones, I was just wondering if anyone who owns one, or another make, has any opinion which would help me make a more informed decision. Also, does anyone know how much guitar lessons at the university cost?

Lessons with the uni are NOT free!! It's totally extortionate. I can't remember off the top of my head the prices they quoted me for a 30 minute lesson. This university will milk as much money off you as possible. Quoting Grant from 15:14, 23rd Jun 2008 Lessons with the Uni are free as far as i'm aware.

I believe they are free if you actually do a music module since your performance on that instrument then makes up part of your grade. Not sure though having not taken either the modules or lessons.

It's £14 for half an hour, but you have to pay for music centre membership too.

Ovation make a good guitar, but they don't come cheap, which might be a factor if you're buying your first. Yamaha, Tanglewood and Ibanez all make decent guitars. While I've never ordered an instrument from them, I often use www.gak.co.uk to compare things and get an idea of price. Www.soundcontrol.com is the website for the guitar shop in Dundee if you're planning to make a purchase up here.

The ovation electro-acoustics are good, I got one a couple of years ago and it hasn't let me down. Some people do not like the round back, but it suits me fine and has great sound projection.
