Shane Bonetti

The legendary character that used to roam St. Andrews and give the occassional amazing lecture. Any knowledge on what happened? I heard today that he was fired? Does that mean I can't keep up hope that he will be back?

No idea. He was a legend though!

Not fair! I did chemistry and attended some of his lectures out of my own free will because they were interesting!

If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the substrate.

Gutted. I loved Shane's lectures. One of the most interesting people I have ever met.

I was wondering this too. He was a really fun lecturer and really cool in person as well. Hope he's back soon.

Why did Bonetti get the sack?

So, why was Bonetti sacked?

He was a great lecturer

I have always been wondering why is everyone so crazy about him.
Personally I think he was hardly qualified to be a lecturer/professor. I'm sure many of us who took his lectures think the same way I do.

In addition, he was actually smoking cigarettes in his office (you all know that public smoking is now entirely banned). And I'm sure about this because I smelt it when I went there to ask if my essay's been marked.

I can't stand smoking but to be sacked for smoking is bit over the top.

So why was he sacked?

Shane Bonetti is one of the most intelligent people I know.

Smoking in his office... is it possible that he had just been out for a cigarette before you went to pick up your essay? Or would that just be too off the wall for you?

Shane Bonetti's face never fitted because he was intelligent and quirky. The University of St Andrews doesn't go in for that because it's not the right kind of impression they want to be giving. They seemingly like archaic, dull and run-of-the-mill academics who don't express their own opinions.

Not quite so much as they like whiny, self-righteous, conspiracy-theorists in their student body, though.

I've felt this for a long time without knowing it. Thank you for revealing it to me.

Except he was one of the universities most senior lectureres despite not having a phd. Shane is extremely intelligent but unorthodox and rather than the university wanting to get rid of him he always had the potential to do something that would result in him leaving the university. This seems to have happened. I feel sorry for his students because he was a remarkable teacher and tutor. All the best Shane! Hope you are enjoying whatever you are up to.

Yeah, I mean, what were they gonna do - bust him for smoking?

I heard he cleaned out his office one day without telling the university- they didn't even realise he'd left until the janitor broke in. Probs just a rumour tho.

I heard that he's the reason why there won't be a May Ball next year.

I hold an element of surprise

I heard he's gone into the bELt BucKlE trade.

How would I contact him?
