Weird man on market street
I was leaving the Central yesterday for a lecture (just a lemonade), and as I walked over to my bike, I noticed an odd looking guy standing next to it. As I crouched down to unlock it, instead of turning around or carry on walking, he sort of awkwardly hovered next to me. As I rode off, I looked back to see where he was, and he seemed to be aimlessly walking around with a slightly panicked look on his face. Anyway, I saw him again today near the fountain on Market Street, with the same weird look. He was wearing a light brown Ushanka fur cap, a checkered jacket, and bright red Converse shoes. Has anyone else seen him or am I going a bit mad?

I know who this guy is. He comes into the pub all the time, occasionally wearing john lennon style glasses. Personally I find him incredibly creepy, but I think he's supposed to be one of those misunderstood genius types. Whatever. He's maybe just crazy. If you're geniunely concerned then nip round to the police station and talk to them, that's what they're there for.

If he has shoulder length hair then he does have Psychological issues. lol I just wrote that then read it back, thought i'd leave it because its quite funny. What I mean is, if he has shoulder length hair, then I know who he is, and he has Psychological issues.

I have an Ushanka fur cap, but regrettably lack the converse or chequered jacket. I also lack the glasses, and I don't "hover", I stand defiant for mother russia! I'm getting a bit bored of these "genius" types about, I thought that's why the science buildings were designed, to keep them occupied and in one place, a bit like a playpen.

The guy used to come into the ginhouse when i worked there, then he had something of a major mental breakdown a while back but used to be pretty big in music production or something, he is a tad creepy tho...

His name is David, and he's had mental health problems, but seems to be getting a bit better. He's got a tendency to get worked up about things, but other than that is harmless. He paints and writes music. Just one of St Andrews' 'unusual' people. Hope this helps. Oh and he used to have long hair and a beard but cut it fairly recently. --- Quoting Spaceman Spiff from 09:04, 27th Mar 2008The guy used to come into the ginhouse when i worked there, then he had something of a major mental breakdown a while back but used to be pretty big in music production or something, he is a tad creepy tho...

Once he told me that he was something to do with Younger Hall and the music stuff that they do. I didn't catch very much of what he said, and what I did catch may not have been true. All in all a pretty pointless post

I don't really think it is appropriate to be discussing this man on a public message board. I have never met this man and have no idea who he is, but could imagine that he might be rather upset if he was to read some of these posts. I know that I would be.

Really? You'd rather he be thought of as a bike theif or criminal than to let people know why he is the way he is? No one suggested his illness made him a bad person, or even a person who poses a risk to anything in any way.
Perhaps he would be upset that you feel the need to defend him? Who knows...
Given that atleast three people on this thread have actually met him, and you have not, who do you think speaks with more authority?
If you are going to be a liberal knee-jerk hippy, you could do us the favour of having a little style.

munching foo will you STOP letting through messages just because YOU want to comment on/flame then. It is abuse of power and extremely BAD MODERATING. That being said if this post doesn't get through you'll prove my point entirely.

That's like saying you should not discuss George Bush because he could get upset, even though 99% of Internet forums have some sort of discussion about him at some point. Let people talk about whoever they want.

I sometimes see him getting on the bus to cupar. Think he is involved in music as he carries a guitar case about with him sometimes.
