Re: Dog shit

Sorry about the necromancer spam, everyone - I've deleted it now, looks like it slipped in when someone was mass-approving some legitimate guest posts. But on the plus side, it... er... sparked some conversation, I guess.

Re: Payday Loans Instant Approval

I heartily approve of your sarcasm and consequently am reluctant to delete the thread as a whole, so I've killed all the HTML instead.

Re: Comprehensive Gown Info Thread

I can't confirm/deny the tower thing, but you DO get free entry to the castle. And then you get photographed by tourists. :)

Obligatory Mod nagging: it'd go faster if you registered, and then I wouldn't have to keep approving all your posts all the time. :P

Got to admit, I'm intrigued by the idea that this board might actually fulfill its stated function for once.

Re: David Russell Apartments - HR1001

HR1001 most likely stands for Herkless, Flat 10, Room 1. And yes, flat 10 is on the top floor. Sorry. If it helps at all, the exercise you'll get from walking up the stairs is nothing compared to the exercise you'll get every time you need to walk into town. :P

Re: General election 2010 - who will (or would) you vote for?

Can I just say I'm now slightly suspicious of the poll given (a) the SNP vote has very suddenly shot up and (b) there aren't 41 SNP supporters in St Andrews; that's why they couldn't affiliate this year. Glad someone else noticed that. I've been checking the poll regularly out of simple curiosity: ...

Re: Church Bells

Why is there a curfew at 8? I've never totally understood it. None of the kids seem to pay it any heed. Take this with a pinch of salt, but I was told by a friend that it dates from a time when all students had to be safely locked up in halls by 8pm - the bell at St Regs rang 100 times, and anyone ...

Re: Graduation events...

Last year there was only one garden party per day, timed so that both morning and afternoon graduates could attend - about 4 or 4.30pm I think. I suppose it's possible that morning graduates get a slight advantage in queuing (since the afternoon ceremony ends right as the garden party starts, basica...

Alumni email forwarding

Basically: having got the scary 'you've graduated so we're killing your account on 30th November' email from ITS, I've set up the alumni email forwarding thing to go to my gmail account but am still confused about one thing. I know that the forwarding thing gives me a [name]@alumni.st-and.ac.uk emai...

Creepy Tom Cruise interview re-done as creepy Half-Life 2 interview

Thread title shamelessly stolen from Kotaku (where I found this) because I don't think anything describes the topic better! In short: a while ago, Tom Cruise did a scary interview on what it means to be a Scientologist (available here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UFBZ_uAbxS0). In response, some H...

Sounds vaguely indie-rock to me.

Quoting Al from 14:20, 4th Aug 2008 Is this McKays connected with the McKays in Pitlochry? I was wondering about this too, because I live there. :( If it's the same company then I don't hold much hope for the St Andrews version! Macbook keyboard vs. Coke

Yes, I'm an idiot and had the classic computer-use accident yesterday by knocking a glass of Coke over the keyboard of my Mac. It's still functional (I'm typing with it right now) but now that the Coke has dried a few of the keys stick or are very stiff, particularly the space bar. My question, in b...

I've never experienced this myself because I'm never in the library early enough, but my flatmate has been there at opening time, first one in the building, and found desks already ...
