Raisin weekend

I will be in St Andrews the weekend of the 20th November, and I've just realised that this may coincide with Raisin Weekend. I seem to remember that it was always the third weekend in November but it's been a while since I was involved.

Can anyone confirm whether this is the case?

Re: Lifetime Membership of Union Perks?

How would one go about becoming a lifetime member? Do you have to sign up when you graduate? Assuming you still have your matric card / can remember your matric number and the year you graduated, just go to the general office with a passport size photo and £10 (might be £15) in your grubby little m...

Unisex toilets

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/manchester/7643175.stm A row has broken out at the University of Manchester after its students' union toilets were "de-gendered". Temporary signs have made the "ladies" simply "toilets", while the "gents" have become "t...

Re: Football Fans of the Forum!

The Union is generally alright for most televised games. However, on a Champions League night, they may be showing the Celtic game instead of one of the English teams. Fair enough, as you are in Scotland but it can be a bit frustrating if you get there nice and early, get a good seat and settle down...

The only downside with the bus is that it takes about 3.5 hours to get there. But it'll save you a good £10 on train fares.

3.5 hours??? Surely that is a bit of an exaggeration?

I think that you only realise what's so great about St Andrews once you leave. I would kill to do even one more year there.

I think you have to return the gown at the end of the day but I'm not sure. Or even the morning before the next ceremony.

Last year, you had to return the gown after the garden party (around 5pm)

Re:

I have just come back from the city centre and I can say that the atmosphere there is fantastic. A lot of the Rangers fans may be pissed but they are behaving themselves and they seem to be getting on well with the locals. As I was wearing my United shirt, a number of fans stopped me and wished me a...

I'm also finding it difficult. It doesn't help that so many of my friends are still in St Andrews, and are still having the time of their lives. I can't wait for my next visit.

Re:

I lived in Albany for 3 years and I wouldn't have had it any other way. As long as you go to the committee events in Freshers week, then it's really easy to meet loads of great people.

I envy you Pat, as I would love to spend another year in good old Albania. Enjoy it!

Does that mean that they are then using charity funds to pay for thre drink? How utterly attrocious.

No of course it doesn't. We are using hall subs to pay for the drink. All ticket money goes straight to the charities fund.

Right, I'm going to put a stop to this silly argument once and for all. Scotland has Glasgow: The birthplace of Ned culture. So don't talk about England being full of louts when the biggest and best of them live in Scotland.

End of story.
