Re:

"British people's right to say what they think"

This of course doesn't apply if you are the Archbishop of Canterbury. You have to resign if you say what you think in that job.

Re:

I got a 5 in QM in 3rd year but still finished with a good 2:1 degree at the end (and now have a PhD and a good post-doc job), so I wouldn't worry too much. Nearly everyone has one really bad exam.

Re:

My favourite bit is:

A BBC London reporter then confronted Professor Wooller:

Reporter: You said the whole thing is dodgy.

Mr Wooller: It is dodgy!

Reporter: Oh so you admit it's dodgy?

Mr Wooller: Of course it's dodgy.

That is the high quality reporting you pay your license fee for.

Re:

Quoting Super Jock from 17:35, 23rd Nov 2007 I'd love home nations back, I don't know why they dropped them? Was due to fixture congestion. Maybe this is the case, but I always thought it could be done every two years during the odd summers when there is no world cup or euro championship. Or, of co...

Home nations would be good.

Especially as on current form Scotland would win (although with a strong challenge from the Northern Irish).

Tories have taken one of the Borders seats off of the Lib Dems (Roxburgh and Berwickshire), and the other one (my home one) will be close run thing with the SNP. Hmm, not a good night for the Lib Dems. And this sort of farce is making a mockery of the whole process. It isn't going to give anyone any...

Re:

Quoting Iain from 11:06, 20th Apr 2007 No, no newspaper should be "obliged" to support any party. It's not state media. No I wouldn't legislate. Papers, through their ownership and to some extent their readership, sway towards a certain party. The media is out to make money. If they thought that th...

Quoting ONeill from 23:59, 3rd Mar 2007 Not the only one missing out. Scheduled up against the final home game of the season against Blackburn. I'll be doing the annual 50,000 man party followed by a night out that should close off another disasterous year for the Toon. Pah, no faith at all. There ...

Quoting Gubbins from 19:15, 3rd Mar 2007 Quoting rob 'f*ck off' wine boy from 19:00, 3rd Mar 2007 Does a lunar eclipse really mean that the moon is eclipsed, not the Sun, Colin? Really? Quoting Househunter from 19:17, 3rd Mar 2007 Would be surprised if the telescope isn't being used tonight for this as it is the biggest optical telescope in the UK. Probably not actually - you don't generally point big telescopes at the moon as it is too bright. But Astrosoc may be using the small ...

Lunar eclipse, I believe

That means that the moon is eclipsed, not the Sun. This happens at night. Tonight in fact. Go enjoy the show - a red moon around midnight.

Quoting Mehmsy from 10:14, 26th Jan 2007 I'd actually go so far as to say that Astronomy is harder than Physics; and possibly the hardest course here. Quoting exnihilo from 18:19, 17th Jan 2007 There's a degree of overlap, but simply adding an English Parliament is not the same as going the whole hog and addressing how they all relate to one another in a constitutional framework, federalising is a step further than either the one or many English ...
