Wow. Um if this: http://www.st-andrews.ac.uk/~animesoc/

Is still the website, then it hasn't been edited since I was on the committee. And that was in 2001.

What is this "FaceBook" thing that seems to be making the rounds in St. Andrews? Someone tried to convince me that joining would be a good thing, but I remain sceptical.

SPAM SPAM SPAM.

P.S. - Does this guy really mean 'anime' when he says 'manga'? The spamming is bad enough, but the ignorance is almost unforgivable. ;-)

Re:

The one Appleseed film that the society does have is mediocre, even by the standards of the time in which it was released.

I've seen the first third or so of the new Applseed film. It's amazing. I couldn't belive how incredible the CG looked. Seriously brilliant.

Re:

The DVD boxset of Escaflowne (26 episodes), including the movie, is going here for about $79.99. Maybe you could get it imported. The £/$ exchange rate is very favourable for you right now.

Do we get any special powers as Honourary Life Members? Like... telepathy or something? Cos that would really come in handy.

Re:

I saw the theatrical release a couple of weeks ago. Oh. My. God. The animation is stunning . This film must be seen on a big screen to be fully appreciated. Unfortunately, like other Oshii films, it does get a little philosophically chatty. It's fine, but beware when watching it late at night, or yo...

This anime is said to be fairly good, actually. But I lack cable, so it's wonderful-ness is lost to me.

As are a couple of series coming out this autumn on Cartoon Network:

Full Metal Alchemist
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complext
