Graduation clothes

I know this sounds like a barking mad question, but I'm graduating in June and was wondering about what I wear. I know what the website says and I'm all ready with a black skirt etc, etc, but what exactly is 'light hose'? Does it mean those awful nude tights, or does it mean a black pair with a low ...

Re: So who else is pissed off at Christmas Ball?

Thank you, armor! I really enjoyed it last year and I gave no intention of letting laryngitus get in the way of me howling out carols.

Re: So who else is pissed off at Christmas Ball?

Possibly I imagined this due to several hours in the cold on Wednesday, but I'm sure the very nice lady who sold me my ticket asked me if I was going to to the carol concert beforehand. I would love to, but I can't find any information about this carol concert and there's nothing outside of the chur...

Re: So who else is pissed off at Christmas Ball?

I queued from 8.30am and was pretty much slap bang at the front of the queue and therefore got tickets; still can't feel my feet or hands or indeed nose, mind. Was still affected by queue jumpers, though; it's really, really not fair to 'save a place' for a friend and then both of you buy four ticke...

Weird happenings

So, last night, at around... 2ish? strange things happened on Lamond Drive, around the Albany Park end. Some bloke decided that he would start singing very, very loudly. Not that unusual, but loud enough to wake me and several other houses on the steet up. Tt went on for about an hour and got increa...

Re:

Just as a catch-up; our scarves and clothing were recognised by random people at the convention, we (well, I) made idiots out of ourselves in front of the guy who used to play Xander in Buffy, Louise Jamieson not only remembered us but talked to us quite a bit - and about the Byre - and we scared th...

Re:

... isn't Cornwall meant to be the poorest county in the country? Which, last I checked, was quite significantly in the South? As someone from the European Capital of Culture 2008 *waves flag* I am aware that there are some fairly significant problems with cities in the north, but I also know that t...

Glasgow Collectormania...

... is taking place over August 23rd-24th. For us Doctor Who fans there are the attractions of Peter Davison (Five) and Louise Jamieson (Leela) as well as various othe guests from other nerdy stuff. (INCLUDING DIRK BENEDICT. Depending on your flavour of Old Skool TV, he's either the Face or the orig...

Re:

There's a NHS dental practice in Auchermuchty that, last I looked, was actively seeking patients. At least, they took me on. It's a hell of a way to go, but it's the only one in Fife taking on at the moment. Why, yes, I did spend about two hours on the phone trying to find a new dentist when the one...

Turn Left and The Stolen Earth

So, this week's was a good and enjoyable episode and raises several questions about the upcoming weeks and directions the show will take, etc, etc. Let's be honest, though, we're all just incoherantly screaming with joy at the trailer though, aren't we? Speaking as a convertee to Torchwood and a fai...

Re:

I don't think you're comparing Doctor Who to the right kind of the program; BSG is a Serious Television Program for Serious People who like Serious Drama. Doctor Who is not; it's meant to be a program that can be shown at 7pm on a Saturday night as families sit down and eat their tea. There's been a...

Adventure

Just discovered that I've got a week longer than I thought before starting my summer job, so I've decided that this is high time to have an adventure. Unfortunately, I have no idea what to do. Within the time frame of three days, starting on a Monday, within a budget of about a hundred quid (or anyt...

Re:

I loved the Sontaran two-parter. This is, I should point out, mostly because I have a very big soft spot for the Sontarans/UNIT/Martha, and Old Skool references tend to make me happy. (If anyone heard a faint scream of "YAY BRIGADIER!" across St Andrews last Saturday, that was me.) I've been great a...

Ah, well, I never had high hopes for this, as they'd either do a complete cop-out or rish alienating about half of fandom by making a definitve statement about the Doctors family/Timelord reproduction. They went for the cop-out option. Hey ho. Next week looks a bit more like it. Celebrity historical...

Re:

I used to go to Bassaguard and sing its praises, but after a long and protracted three month struggle with them to believe me that it was them that broke my exhaust (fine before it went in - they replaced a part of it - it rattled so violently I couldn't drive it properly anymore) I've gone right of...

This Thursday there'll be an inter-society pub quiz in the back room of the Whey Pat at 8.30pm, hosted by the good people of AltSoc, ComedySoc(k), DocSoc and PirateSoc, if that helps?
