Re: Broadband: which to choose?

Is BE even available in St. Andrews - their website does not list the exchange?

Re: Undergraduate Accomodation: Mixed or not?

Also, it'll be 4 others - there should only be five rooms (unless you've got one of the ones with a twin room)... 8-)

Re: Well, St Andrews is on Street View at last

Most of the town is May, but its definitely July up by DRA and Fife Park - wonder why...

Re: Well, St Andrews is on Street View at last

Its likely mid-July, at least up by DRA, as the sports field is full of cars, indicating the presence of the CLAN, possibly.

Though, the large amount of people in Butt's Wynd outside the Old Union Dinner probably means that was taken during May exams...

Re: Reform of the House of Commons

We should have a system like Ancient Greece (chosen by lot and everyone is eligible, bit like jury service). Of course, this wouldn't be entirely fesiable. Maybe some kind of dual system (half-elected, half chosen by lot)...and we could introduce their system of ostracising people too, that would be...

Re: Star Trek (spoilers)

Eric Bana was pretty shite actually. What was that backstory again? I blinked and missed it. Something about his wife being destroyed by a supernova. Not a clue. At least the villain in ST: Nemesis had motivation, this one passed me by entirely. The plot seemed a bit incidental really, but I didn't...

Re: Fife Park 09/10?

So they're going to open Fife Park as normal, then start building next to it/in it, then punt students across from the some of the old to the partially finished new, then knock most of the old Fife Park down, before finishing building the new one in time for the year after? -.- Pretty much - they'r...

Re: Fife Park 09/10?

Its all going to be open, as far as I know...from the email the Accommodation people sent out a while back. They may start building as early as September, but they still need funding I think (and now isn't a very good time to try and get money from anywhere). Even then, they have to have enough repl...

Re: If you could change three things about the Union...

There was a building with two storeys of dormer windows demolished to make way for the Buchanan, but I'm not sure when

Re: Mornington Crescent, Round 2

Well...that fairly obvious move certainly doesn't make the game any easier. I think I'll have to go with a Nesbit's Northern switch, popularised about the time of Queen Victoria I believe and a very old ploy for just such a difficult situation, putting me in Kentish Town

Re: Easter Holiday Dates

Easter Monday isn't technically a public holiday in Scotland, so classes don't really have to be cancelled. Last year Easter didn't fall at the same time as the holiday at all, and I remember travelling back to St. Andrews on Easter Sunday in first year. Its pretty normal :)

Re: Computer Problem

Is it possible it might be overheating? Mine does that if I use a lot of the CPU and don't balance it on something to keep the fans clear.

I wish I'd revised the topics that were on the exam instead of the ones that weren't.

Re: Accommodation 09/10

And why do they still have Fife Park included on the list? I thought it was getting demolished next year? The uni sent out emails a month or so back, saying Fife Park is open next year - they've not yet secured funding and they have to build the replacement before they can knock it down. Inhabitant...

Re: New Doctor!

It would be so much better if they managed to keep it secret until the moment of his regeneration...would also be really funny if they told everyone the wrong person, had their reaction speech and everything, then pretended it was them until the airing of the regeneration. Oh well. I suppose that wo...

Re: New Year? - Bah Humbug?

Never really celebrated New Year - I'll probably stop revising for midnight itself and text a few people, but other than that its probably going to be pretty uneventful.

Re: MS word 2007

Have two separate word documents - unless you have some kind of indexing and related stuff. If you have them both as sub-documents in a master document, does that also cause it to make the page numbering systems the same?

Re: Secret Garden

There's a walled garden near that large house on the road into St. Andrews - kind of near the fake tree just along from Melville.
