Re:

It was certainly Twain who said "I have never let my schooling interfere with my education", which is basically the same thing. I do have good reasons for wondering whether Cleese said the above, however.

Re:

Not that Google is the definitive authority on the topic of everything that's ever been said in the world, but a quick search for "don't let your degree get in the way of your education" reveals only a couple of links to the Sinner and a much larger number of links to Durham. There's even one Americ...

Re:

Hmm, I'd always thought that the old St Andrean maxim "don't let your degree get in the way of your education" was from Cleese's Rectorial Address, but apparently not. Does anyone know if indeed it was John Cleese who said this?

Cowardice

Does anyone know where I might find a transcript of John Cleese's Rectorial Address? I believe it is entitled 'Cowardice' (in parody of J.M. Barrie's 'Courage'), but I can't find it in SAULCAT. Any ideas?

Re:

Usually by Super Tuesday each party is left with a clear frontrunner for the nomination, and though that certainly seems to be the case in the Republican camp (John McCain) things are far different in the Democrat camp. It wouldn't surprise me if, even after today's voting, it's still unclear as to ...

Quoting househunter from 19:19, 29th Jan 2008 Sorry, it should be 'ultimate giveaway'. Anyway the address is here: http://www.theultimatesteal.co.uk/ You can either buy Office 2007 Ultimate for £13 or £38. One lets you keep it for good, the other one only lets you install it once. Thanks for linkin...

If only it were more exciting than it really is. I went to edit my post to correct a heinous spelling error and, in my haste, clicked the 'delete' button by accident (which is conveniently placed directly adjacent to the 'edit' button). I believe it originally said something like this: Quoting Mysel...

Not to mention the fact that our very own university has a transnational history research unit: http://www.st-andrews.ac.uk/history/research/transnational.html And that it runs a module, FM5101, in Transnational Cinema and Narrative Convention: http://www.st-andrews.ac.uk/filmstudies/pgrad_modules.p...

Re:

Quoting macgamer from 12:46, 21st Nov 2007 Another solution would be to force Science students to take at least one arts module elective and vice versa with Arts students. That way you could achieve a more rounded student. Perhaps this is more a discussion about what a University education actually...

Excuse me. They did. Sticking one poster on a phonebox d...

I don't know who in their right mind would want to read other people's undergrad essays. The whole concept of this society and its 'review' seems to be very much up its own arse, much like the Star FM show presented by its creators last semester.
