Re: St Andrews to London Transport Suggestions

If money was no object I'd take the flight from Dundee to London City with Cityjet, there might be affordable deals on daytime flights as well. You can leave St Andrews at 10am and be in Central London by 1.

Re: Well, St Andrews is on Street View at last

I saw the car in town on two different occasions in two different months. I think March and May but it might have been February or April. I was sat on the wall at the Union but am not in the actual picture. So it may be fair to say there is a multitude of potential dates they were taking pictures.

Re: Inquiry about tickets to New York

Often the Continental flight from Glasgow seems to be significantly cheaper than the Edinburgh one. And a return bus ticket is only around £5 more by the time you connect to the airport, and the travel will only be 90 minutes or so longer.

It's been edited, it used to have Obama and Morgan Freedman instead of Craig Charles and Rio.

Re: University challenge

You don't have to be very athletic to play it, though, do you? It's basically baseball with all of the fun bits removed... that can go on for 3 days . And still be a draw. 5 days actually. I'm a Scottish St Andrews student with an interest in cricket, indeed it's one of the questions I got right. E...

Re: Old people are crippling the UK bus network!

I think the nationwide free bus travel for OAPs is terrific, if nothing else taking them out their cars is a great move. People can complain about that statement but how many times have you been stuck behind an old dear doing 30 or less along the road to Cupar. However I do think their free timings ...

Re: Best bank account?

Haha perhaps you were! I took it on Sunday and the jovial driver (said braw to everything, possibly was drunk) told another student to always carry his card for a discount only on the 99s. But as I get a discount on the X24 as well maybe he was wrong.

Re: Best bank account?

Firstly show your student card on the bus for a £5 return to Dundee on the 99s. Definitely the way forward. I have student accounts with both HBoS and RBoS (naughty and not really allowed, I know) and neither charge. But I'm Scottish and don't know about internationals. I can't think why there would...

Re: whats with all the plane crashes lately?

Well in Iran it's probably the old and shoddily maintained ex-Soviet airframes they were using - today's crash was a Tupolev aircraft from the period before they were making aircraft anywhere near as modern as what Boeing/Airbus/other regional jet makers in the West can make. Planes fall from the sk...

Ants

So my flat has a lovely ant problem discovered by moving some suitcases under a bed. I've hoovered thoroughly around the area and in the room affected and have Rentokil traps from the hardware store. Anyone got any other tips about killing the little buggers? I can't afford an anteater and torch + m...

Re: Modern Manners/etiquette

I keep my phone on the table because it seems to lose signal in my pocket. And I tend to go for long drinking sessions in the pub if I go, and am usually with some folk who are waiting for the rest of a group to show up.

But I agree about constant use being rude. It is.

Re: Is there any direct flight from Edinburgh to Washington?

Or Newark, or do Glasgow-Philly which gets a decent review.

KLM through Amsterdam will almost undoubtably cheapest.

Re: How to book the cheapest ticket from Edinburgh to London?

I'd agree on taking the train. Or, if trying to be cheaper, the bus from Dundee. Best for flights I find it http://www.kayak.co.uk as they compare even airlines you've never heard of. Alternatively try Ryanair and Easyjet but the length and cost of transfers means you'd be insane not to take the tra...
