Re: Travel tips?

If you've not got much money i really wouldn't recommend going by train, I've found it to be more expensive than by bus and plane. I also looked into the ferries to Zeebrugge-Rosyth and it was quite expensive. I don't like to fly so I've been lots of times to Europe and back on buses and trains. I'd...

Re: What modules should I do this year?

I wouldn't really recommend 1st year IR modules as a filler, most people don't seem to enjoy them, but they might have changed - second year was much more interesting but then you probably can't take them.

Re: Abdelbaset Ali al-Megrahi : set free

I wonder how strong the feeling of boycotting Scotland and the UK is in the US. Found this website which is a little scary, don't really get why there's link to boycotts of Israel.

Re: Honours entry (again)

Don't worry about not receiving letters some departments send them out others don't - if anyone is concerned about that best to check with others who are doing the same subject.

Does anyone know of places in either city which offer japanese lessons? Re: Is the decline of the West inevitable?

I might reply in more detail later, maybe... my last post already resulted in me being late to an important meeting, I really should focus on real world arguments in *gasp* real life. That said, I *never* suggested that states spare people from excessive violence. My points can be summed up as: 1. ...

Re: Make Me Jealous

I'm hopefully going to get a job for a few months at a supermarket to pay off debts. I am graduating and I've got a place on the japanese government teaching programme. So I have a few days down in London in July for training, so I will do some sight seeing then. Then at the end of July I am going t...

Re: Star Trek (spoilers)

There was nothing original in it, but I really enjoyed it. That's all I really wanted from it was some entertainment and it delivered. I've never watched star trek before so i have nothing to compare and didn't go in expecting anything.

Re: Accents

Be yourself - although you might find your accent changes anyway. I'm pretty sure mine has since I've been here. I found that some people found it difficult to understand my Scottish accent in some of my classes in first year but i don't come across that problem anymore.

fear of flying - drugs and other therapies

Has anyone had a prescription because they were scared of flying, did it work? Also what's the strongest drug you can get prescribed? How about any other therapies, like hypnotherapy? Or anything else to make you feel better. I really don't want to fly and have managed to get to far off places witho...

Re: The Printers in the library

Yeah I've learnt my lesson not to trust them. I sent my essay to an e-mail account and went in at 10:30 to get my essay printed out for a deadline at 12, big mistake - i'd never had to submit an essay late before.

Re: On the Rocks

I think though there perhaps should be a limit on the number of films per director. There were 2 directors, who had 3 films each. I think if as they said they got such great response from students across Scotland it seems a shame not to showcase it.

On the Rocks

I'm surprised there hasn't been a thread about this already. So how do people think it's going? What's been good and bad for you? Or have you not seen anything? I really wanted to go to the launch and fair on the opening day, unfortunately I couldn't because of essays due. I have managed to see all ...

Re: Jerry Springer

Am I the only one who thought it was rubbish? They seemed to have two jokes, prolonging the word 'fuck' or singing longer than was to be expected. Neither of which I found particularly amusing the first time. I just got so bored waiting for the predictable jokes to hurry up and end. There weren't an...

Re: North Korea

What are everyone's opinions on this: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asia-pacific/7982874.stm My first thought is that it's incredible that such a small, relatively poor, country can have a space vehicle. My second thought is that we might have just arrived at the fulcrum of the seesaw that is th...
