A bit of history

Seeing as the pubs' names change so frequently in St Andrews, I wonder if anyone could tell me the name(s) of One Golf Place before it took on its current identity? I remember hearing about McSorleys and the Niblick or something - were there any others? And what of other pubs in town? Ogstons used t...

Re:

If anyone should be offended, it should be Mr Cahn. Implying that his only redeeming feature is a 10" tongue (and presumably the ability to breathe through his ears?) seems rather rude. However, I've met the fellow, and a fine fellow he is. I say: Keep the friendly banter Keep the insults (but deliv...

Quoting DrAlex from 22:37, 24th Mar 2007 Quoting Jennifer Loves Chewitts from 21:59, 24th Mar 2007 Heaven forbid that the general student population should choose to refer to their Students' Association casually! You mean like the nickname "The Union" even though our Association isn't a union? If y...

Re:

Quoting David Bean from 15:44, 24th Mar 2007 Well, nevertheless I'd still be opposed to the introduction of any form of abbreviation. It pains me when people at Dundee and Edinburgh refer to their unions respectively as 'DUSA' and 'EUSA', as though they were some kind of neologism, and I'd hate for...

Re:

Isn't that just the same as saying "ner ner ne-ner ner" or choosing not to buy Kitkats?

Don't the NUS still get the same membership fee from your institution's students' union?

"Here's the same big pile of cash, but hey! you don't have to represent ALL of us!"

Re:

It's also due to their unions charging people to join, and they didn't want St Andrews "freeloaders" taking advantages of their paid services for nothing.

You'll probably find that it's WORD which makes any copy/pasting horrific. Word manages to include all sorts of nasty markup, in a very messy manner.
