Re: Formal Dress Forum

Ah, no...you're confusing what breeches are! They're still very much used, but have progressed a bit: rather than being baggy cloth, breeches have adapted to changing technology too: the differences between jods and breeches now are more subtle, but still remain, in that: a) breeches tend to be made...

Re: Formal Dress Forum

Gosh - something on the FDF I know about! Breeches. Anon, it depends if you're thinking about relatively modern breeches, that you'd be able to buy in any self-respecting saddlery, like these: http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://www.frogpool.com/prod-5943.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.fro...

Re: Cork Worlds 2009 - Speaks/Alumni

You're all right - it was 4 speaks...I do remember being told it was one, but 4 is a much less horrible number to miss by! Well done to all anyway, for a strong performance. Now, a Serious Alumni Issue ;) Claire, Ewan's UDS bow tie was last seen around your neck at the Championship dinner/dancing th...

Re: Durham IV 2008

Hi Graeme,
I have a copy of the tab, and will email it across to you asap. For the really geeky, the tab and the round-by-round results analysis will be up on BD shortly.

Re:

Jason, I can promise you, that if you run anything like that, and I'm judging you, Bad Things will happen.

I don't know what they'll be yet, but I'll take between now and Durham to plan them, and update threats as necessary!

Thanks to both James and Doug for supporting the event, and well done to James on (I think) judging his first external final!

There's one sitting on my desk. Is it the Fife edition you're after, or will any one do? Either's possible.

Re:

Boy, am I glad Ewan and I paid by card! I'm no expert on these things, but it does seem that we need to tighten up the way we approach the methods of those dinners. I appreciate that there are often as many hassles ticketing dinners in advance as there are not ticketing them. Might a possible soluti...

Re:

Well done to the winning St A team - it was a horrible position to be in, and they handled it well. Also big congrats to Jess and Beth for dealing well with the Crazy First Prop, and to Rach and Chris for speaking well too.

I'll expect to see you all celebrating tonight!

The Courier Debating Competition

Just a quick 'Thank you' to everyone involved with the competition this year - it was an excellent year's debating, and a terrifyingly good final! I do hope everyone had fun at the rounds, debate and dinner afterwards - and that Tom didn't mind too much being cruelly prosecuted of him after dinner! ...

In the 'Training' secion, queries are still directed to Doug, despite the position being vacant on other areas of the website. Also, in the IV section, Maidens is listed as upcoming, when it has passed. Perhaps you could announce the winner instead? Oh, and under the Alumni and Public relations head...

Re:

This is looking much, much better. The site itself is better put together, but I think that content-wise, the sponsorship area is under written. Given how important they are, it's not really prominent enough. The way we're presenting it at the moment presents no incentive for people to get involved ...
