Re:

I'd recommend GoldWave from http://www.goldwave.com/ . It's free, small and very good.

RealOne Player is bloated and horribly slow. But at least it's not Winamp 3.

When I saw the title of this thread, I thought you were talking about the sci-fi movie of the same name. Anyone seen it?

Re:

It was a good show, though it could have done without Greebo and his friends shouting "Play your fucking song!" all the way through.

So can we play internet games?

ITS: "There are also other services which we are simply not
prepared to support, and these include things like Kazaa and games-playing
of any sort."

Actually, I have just been shrinking them and emailing them from my St Andrews account using yer basic POP3 client. It would just be handier if, rather than having to go out of the IM window into the email application, write a covering email, shrink the picture in Paint Shop, attach it and send, I c...

Re:

It would probably have been OK to be honest, these things are designed to be fairly idiot-proof - particularly when they're to be used by musicians ;-)

But it's worth knowing, anyway. The capitals might have been a little excessive - but it looked nice and dramatic, didn't it?

Privacy on Resnet

Apologies for doing a "someone told me" thread, but someone told me that it would be illegal for ITS to monitor individual users' usage of Resnet (even though I presume that, if they were so inclined, they could make logs for each user with a breakdown of all their access.) Does anyone know if this ...

Re:

To come back on-topic (sorry!) why is it that file-transfers on MSN and ICQ only work within the university network? It's a pain trying to find FTP space when I want to send uncompressed digital photos to people (my camera produces files of 1.2Mb or so, which is bigger than most email providers will...

Re:

Oh, I forgot to mention software, didn't I? Once you've got your sound source connected to the computer, you'll need two bits of software: one to record the sound to your hard disk in .wav format, and another to compress it (as .wav files are very large) - probably into MP3 format. For the former, I...

Why does this always happen?

Every time someone mentions Christianity on The Sinner, we get exactly the same responses trotted out. Every time.
