Re:

Errr.... where the hell are the numbers on these coins??

How are tourists supposed to know how much each coin is worth? I'm sure other people need the numbering system??

I thought I was ok until I discovered xkcd... now I just realise I'm a complete geek.

Thank you, university education!!

I was expecting this one when I saw it was an xkcd link

Re:

I would just say 'excuse me'... it's polite and safe. Titles can be a bit touch and go. I think most academics in the department where I work now would have no problem with students using their first name, but you always get a few who prefer 'Professor' or 'Doctor' (make sure you get it right!). I d...

Re:

I graduated in June 2005, and conversely, I think my life has improved quite a lot... although granted, I am still a student! I loved my time at St Andrews, but it doesnt mean it was sometimes difficult emotionally... aged 17 - 21 I had a lot of growing up to do and I was definitely looking forward ...

Re:

Strange to agree with exnihilo, but... Oxford and Cambridge are pretty average when it comes to PhDs (in sciences, anyway). The whole recruitment protocol is pretty similar to any other university in the UK (apart from the whole college thing) and nowhere near as stringent as it is for undergrads. A...

Totally gutted I missed this :S

Sounds like a rockpooler's heaven. Unfortunately I'm stuck in Sheffield.

Sandy Edwards must have been down with his spade and a few jars...?

I'm sure i read somewhere that at times of war, hardship etc., when a lot needs to be done, people tend to be less depressed.

We probably get depressed because we are so BORED.

Ah, good old Daniel. Being from a catholic family, both of my grannies had posters of Daniel on their bedroom walls. No joke. Having worked in a few care homes, I think I should have priority when it comes to scraping his vocal cords away with some kind of power sander. With nails sticking out of it...

Steve Irwin was my hero. It was a huge ambition of mines to meet him. Love him or hate him, he was a fantastic educator and conservationist. Some of my former biology classmates and I held him in very high esteem. He poked fun at himself but he was very serious about his work. I feel so sorry for hi...

MacSweens Vegetarian Haggis is amazing. Yeah, its not real haggis, but its an amazing meal in it's own right.

There are meat eaters who wont touch haggis with a barge pole, remember.

Re:

The age gap totally depends on the situation. I had a fling with an 18 year old when I was 20, and his immaturity drove me insane. At 17 i had a boyfriend of 23 (at uni), and even though we really connected, none of his friends agreed with it, and I always felt a sense of guilt because both of us we...

KateBush, I dont know if you meant open book exams with regard to just English but... The hardest exam I have sat in my life was an open-book exam on evolutionary genetics. It is an excuse for them to really push the boat out... (and hold you kicking and screaming under the water)... you might have ...

Quoting Icarus from 20:36, 17th Aug 2006 I'd be interested to know which subjects students are getting all these A's in before everyone starts moaning about how the exams are allegedly 'getting easier.' I'm sorry, but getting an A in something like Media Studies or Drama isn't the same as getting a...

AEK are not an average team. They have been completely revamped over the last couple of years after coming from the brink of financial disaster. Last season they finished second behind Olympiakos, the season before 3rd behind them and Panathanaikos. THey have a huge fanatical support, and the passio...

Ive noticed the bbc has been full of errors, from calling the current pope 'John Paul II' and countless spelling mistakes, omissions, unfinished documents, etc. Now, according to them, this weekend it will be a maximum temperature of 3C in Sheffield on Saturday, but a minimum of 16. http://www.bbc.c...

Everyone is bitching about those adverts.

I like that 'dont stop me now one', esp. with the ginger girl at the front who is really going for it.

And a poloshirt for 95p? What a bargain!
