Why does an uncreated God have to be all knowing and all powerful? This certainly isn't true by definition. God not being all knowing and all powerful doesn't necessitate that he must have been created, but makes it possible that he could have been. So there is an alternative view to my own. That do...

You have more questions than I have answers. I'll deal with the ones I understand. I don't know very much about physics or what conservation of energy is but I understand the general problem of the non-physical intervening in the physical. To be perfectly honset, I haven't told you my reasoning beca...

Peripheral to the discussion, but about Gettier - I'm not saying just differentiate between subjective and objective justification but also equate the evidence itself with justification, not just the acquistion of it. i.e have belief constituting justification, not justification constituting belief....

what why and how

That was part of my point - as far as I'm concerned these experiences are part of the "physical" (whatever that means) world. That's why I hesitate to call them supernatural. To me they are perfectly natural. The primary distinction between Christianity and Greek philosophy/a lot of the categories w...

natural

Caroyln. I 've always been as baffled by the fact that a lot of don't people believe in the "super-natural" as you are by the fact that some people do. My whole life it's been obvious to me that God exists, that there are angels and demons and so on. I have several friends who've seen angels, know s...

I don't know. And why is there a firewall that stops you receiving things like music from friends through MSN messanger and stuff like that? Or is that just my computer?

Re:

Where to start? Faith in Christ – this is not just a state of mind. One of the hardest things about being a Christian is understanding the relationship between “faith” and “works”. A lot disagreements in the history of Christianity are centred around this difficulty – most obviously Luther and the C...

for Prophet Tenebrae (good name by the way)

I'm not sure I understand. God is absolute and can do whatever he wants - this includes deeming what we would perhaps call bad things good, if needs be. This seems to happen several times in the Old Testament. Also, why can't moality, as revealed by God, be absolute just because God is omnipotent? I...

for Belladonna

You'd rather die yourself than have eternal life with and because of a God who is prepared to do whatever it takes to prove how much he loves you? I find it hard to believe that if you accept Jesus died for you, as a wholly blameless person, you don't actually care.

for Al

Good questions. The New Testament talks mostly about the crucifixion and resurrection as a "demonstration" of God's love. Perhaps it would be possible for God to forgive our sins (note also that Jesus forgave people's sins, having authoity to do so as the Son of God) without any sort of demonstratio...

Re:

It's not that Jesus "came back" from the dead, it's that he was raised from the dead, not to die again. He didn't just return to the state he was in before: he was resurrected, not resuscitated. This is why the Bible calls him, "the firstborn from among the dead". What has happened to him will event...

Re:

Whether or not you believe in God, God believes in you.
Why should faith just be about what's in it for you?
Putting faith in Christ is dying to your old self and allowing him to live in you, so that God can be glorified. If you know God, you will want this.

Congratulations

I'd say that's one of the most intelligent opinons I've seen expressed on this site so far, except the part about anit-war leaflets, which perhaps is a little too cynical. Still, keep up the good work, friend. We're still children. I think it's completely irresponsible for students to behave like ad...

Re:

What's a fundamentalist? Christianity is not a religion - it's a relationship. A religion is something that tells you have to do certain things to put yourself right with God. Christianity teaches that there is nothing you can do to put yourself right with God. How could there be? Is there anything ...

The truth about student drunkeness

You don't have the right to enjoy yourself here, you have the right to enjoy what you came here to study. That's what you're called a "student".

A question for everyone: why is getting drunk something to be proud of? It's not really that difficult.
