Re:

To be fair, things are a lot better than a few years ago. I put a lot of this down to a better president who, through his two year term, had provided much needed continuity.

Re:

I will put my hands up and apologise for the lack of minutes on my Education site. The simple fact is that I cannot write minutes at the same time as chairing a meeting. The DoR is usually there to write minutes but I think I have only had one of these emailed to me. Why is this? Because he has bett...

Re:

I don't have a copy of the constitution and laws with me at my English home, and there's only half a copy on the Union website. Could you please enlighten me as to the exact method by which to call a General Meeting?

Re:

In repsonse to Lid's points: 1. It would come within the SSCC reps remits to represent students on any issue. They would know this before they were elected. 2. Men's issues reps have, as far as I'm aware, never mentioned anything at SRC related to Men's issues. They have however provided valuable co...

Re:

With SLC loans it's always on the first date of 'term' even though we don't even have terms any more. So first Monday of Week 1, first day of Revision Week and first day back after Spring Break.

Re:

Replacing existing members with convenors would be done to cut out all the elections that currently happen (which just piss everyone off) whilst still maintaining a large SRC. I would then suggest making full SRC meetings happen 2/3 times a semester. Exec would include all officers and sabbs and wou...

"(d) appointment to major union offices should be by election in a secret ballot in which all members are entitled to vote;" http://www.opsi.gov.uk/acts/acts1994/ukpga_19940030_en_3#pt2-l1g20 One could argue that "major union offices" might only include sabbaticals and officers. Even if my interpret...

Re:

I'm in favour of culling the positions you mentioned, and instead introducing a rep chosen from each school's Staff-Student Council (namely it's Convenor, which according to Senate should now be a student). This means: 1) Fewer positions at union elections, yet retaining a big involvement at SRC. 2)...

It's also worth noting that once the library re-opens you'll be able to get past papers from special collections on level 1.

ITS, Library and Registry aren't answering their phones. My guess is they're still on holiday. I've sent them a email to let them know - if it's not up and running in the next couple of days I'll call them. In the meantime I suggest trying your department's webiste or the wonderful WebCT. Or, if it ...

Re:

There was a big re-shuffle of the senior management. The old Dean of Science became Vice Principal for Learning and Teaching and the old VP became VP for Governance and Planning (a new post). The University also decided it wanted a Proctor so the Provost of St Leonards took on that position as well....

Re:

We're given about £3000 each year by Fife Council plus some money for bandstand concerts, and a few other bits of income. However, over recent years not all of this money has been spent and thus they've built up a considerable amount. The questions is: should we just spend the interest, or spend the...
