Re: 60+ students occupy uni building in protest

They agree to those demands so the Uni obviously thinks that these should be provided. The bills are not our responsibility. If the Uni were to deny <heating, electricity and toilets> to us it would not only reflect very badly on them but it would also be unnecessarily hostile and a breach of human...

Do they appreciate the irony of occupying territory to support Palestine?

Re: List your all time top 5 favourite computer/video games

In no real order

Spider-man 2 on PS2 (I just like popping it in and swinging around)
Wii Fit
Knights of the Old Republic
Warcraft III
The 5th will likely be something from the Mega Drive, but I can't think of it now.

Re: Town or city?

Regarding millennium cities - some wag decided to nominate Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Dundee for city status. They were all accepted, apart from Dundee, that being the only city that actually had the appropriate documentation identifying it as a city.

There must be cheaper ways to eat than having a whole nosebag. Buying lots of them would become quite expensive very quickly.

Re: There's probably no God

I can kind of see the point that the complainants are making. The ASA's code states "marketers must hold documentary evidence to prove all claims". The regulator said it would assess the complaint and decide whether to contact the advertiser. Unless the advertisers have documentary proof t...

Re: New Year? - Bah Humbug?

I know a girl who was in her second year at Chattan who didn't know how to get to Hamilton.

And another in her fourth year who wasn't sure where the Scores were (Yes, she was a scientist, but how small can you make the town?)

Re: What did you achieve in 2008?

Lots of things didn't happen for me, but I stayed in the same place for two years in a row, I secured a proper, full time permanent job (after twice getting to Friday not knowing if I'd have a job on the Monday) and I bought myself my first car.

Hogmanay in St Andrews

I know that this is a bit late in the metaphorical day to be asking, but is there anything on in St Andrews for Hogmanay? Or, will there be any Sinners about tomorrow for the bells? I've heard legends of people getting together by the fountain in Market Street to ring in the New Year, which is more ...

Re: Where are you doing your Christmas shopping this year?

At my current job we work for an hour and three quarters, get a fifteen minute break, work for an hour and three quarters, get a fifty minute lunch break and then work for an hour and three quarters before we go home. Re: Where are you doing your Christmas shopping this year?

I believe there are some sort of laws along the lines of one 15 minute break for every 4 hours worked on a shift. If you are working overnights - I believe this lengthens slightly to 20 mins per 4 hours. I think that that only applies to people who work shifts of over six hours. Of course, my broth...

Re: Quality TV Shows to Help Procrastination

I'll recommend Veronica Mars and How I Met Your Mother. Veronica Mars is about a teenage girl who solves mysteries and manages to do season long arcs and done in one episodes in together. It also stars Kirsten Bell, if that's a factor for you. It's funny, sharp and the detectiving actually works. ht...
