Power = Work per unit Time

P = W/T, 1 Watt = 1 Joule/1 Second.

Which is basically a very true statement. The more powerful you are, the more work you can get done in a certain time, or the faster you can do a certain amount of work. For example, the US government is more powerful than the UK government because it could destroy the world in a shorter amount of time. Perhaps a bad example...

Yes, real power is the ability to have people do things for you just because they know you want them to. Pretty ordinary in the definition, but quite extraordinary in its exercise.
