Keep them, but only list new articles on the front page. That might encourage people to write them more regularly.

Funny that this comes up now; only today I was procrastinating looking at the meagre selection of articles I wrote for the guide back in first year.

Keep it, I'd say. I'm not quite sure why, though. Perhaps it might encourage someone at some point in the future to contribute some profound article on the meaning of life. That, and erm, the Sinner wouldn't be the Sinner without articles written months ago.

Hmm...I think the articles section could be a good feature but isn't utilised to the best of it's ability with the current layout of the site.

The only problem with it is that the articles aren't there or up-to-date. Could some incentives be offered for writing them, to encourage more good ones?

Updatign the articles, as well as all the stuff in the guide to st andrews, would be a good idea methinks.

If the articles were made into something like a wiki, then people could upload their own whenever they liked, and the guide would always be up to date.
Of course you've got to bear in mind that some people are idiots, and might delete stuff or put utter shit in, but then isn't there a feature of wiki that allows a sort of rollback function?

It would be nice if they were formatted better
Ie. Not just giant blocks of text.

I think that's probably why I never read them. The odd one that's looked interesting that I've clicked on has been unreadable as one huge block of unfurmatted text. Very off-putting. That and a fair few have been utter drivel - that's why I voted yes to scrapping.

Hmm, the articles are (going to be) represented as a wiki on the new sinner, aren't they? That way, people can indeed keep them nice and up-to-date, etc.

EDIT: Hm, maybe they're not. But they could be, I'm sure.

Oh sorry its by Humphrey who is officially a cool sinner, despite criticising my sexuality, (it really doesn't say that much about your gf if I came onto her + I was probably wasted, i dunno, u know jbh mentality).

Still Humphrey sort the paragraphing out.

Hmm, someone needs to make use of the nl2br function in PHP - the linebreaks are there, they're just not HTMLised.

Oli, poke me if you want this sorting out, it should just be a one-line change.

It did. The sinner's code for the articles is crap though, and removed all the formatting.

puttting up your own text. It might be shite. It might be opinion loosely disguised as fact.

Isn't that called a thread?
