Getting to Meadowbank Stadium... how?

Postby amac on Thu Aug 17, 2006 2:36 pm

Quite obvious from the title, but I'm going to meadowbank stadium next week and have only a vague idea where it is.

If anyone knows Edinburgh, can you tell me how you'd recommend getting there (from Glasgow)? Options are Train / Bus / Car.

Thankyou.

You off to Radiohead too, eh?

Recommend taking the Megabus through from Glasgow. (www.megabus.com) Cheap and cheerful.

I can only really comment on the train/bus option - have no idea what the road route would look like from Glasgow (short of getting to the Omni roundabout in Edinburgh, ,left and taking the first right onto the London road - keep on that and you'd see the stadium after about a mile and a quarter).

Take the train into Waverley, then walk to St Andrews Square - get a bus heading off the square into Queen Street - heading east - any one of the 26, 44 or 4, as far as I remember, go right past Meadowbank.

The bus is even easier - assuming it gets into the main bus station, just walk out of there, go down Elder Street, cross over Queen Street and get one of the aforementioned buses.

Also - FYI - http://www.lothianbuses.co.uk/howto/findRoute.asp

I know an easier way. When you get off the train or bus walk outside the station put your thumb in the air and get the first taxi that stops to take you their. No bother pal.

I took the 26 past Meadowbank every morning for 8 weeks to get to work.

Yeah, if you come out of the bus station onto St Andrew Square, you'll be directly facing a garden area right in the middle. Cross to the other side of St Andrew Square, and you'll come across a bus stop in front of Standard Life Investments and the Scottish Life HQ.

Any 26 going past there goes past Meadowbank.
