I havea computer which is 4 years old, and is getting a bit slow. Particularly, it is slow at loading programs and multitasking.

I would like to speed it up without spending loads of money on a new one. Am I right in thinking buying RAM will help?

If so, what type should I buy? Is it just a case of whacking it in a slot in the back of the computer?

If only I'd known about this website when I had to upgrade my friends' computers! A memory upgrade is the most cost effective way of improving your computer's performance. You can get generic (non brand) RAM for really cheap online. Try www.pricewatch.com, as it is really good for any computer component purchase that you may need to make.

For some reason toshiba sent me 3x512Mb for a two slot laptop so it is unused and in its original box.
