I was a bit puzzled when I saw the bottom two options on the poll - Eight years or more? The site hasn't been going that long!

Yeah, well not all of us know 'everything'

Who will take care of me my love, my dark angel, when you are gone?

Yes. Shows that anyone who votes for them are liars. This is all a test to weed these people out.

Well spotted.

July - 2002. I didn't register until september though.

I think my first ever post was about whether it was practical or necessary to have a bike in st andrews.

Since the very start.

Since the very start. You think it's bitchy now? You have no idea! In the early days all comments were anonymous and unmoderated and some people really let their spleen have full rein.

We don't all know 'everything', but we do have the common sense to search for the answers...

Damned right it was bitchy. Biagi seemed to have a lot to do with that, if I remember rightly.

Surely only Baster could claim 8 years. Even then, I'm not sure when he started it...

Didn't the site start about 2001/02 as st-adz - a classified ad webpage? Then it started marketing itself as a rival to the Saint with (some pretty awful) news stories, and then the forums were created.

I know the first ever time I posted was to complain about how badly written a particular news story was and to ask whether the author was drunk at the time of posting - to which I received a not-terribly-pleasant reply from the afore mentioned author. I guess I deserved it :-)

I was there from the start too.

Have a look at the history link in the first post - it details the progress of the site.

I do wonder who Republicana was? I know singleton registered the name when registration was allowed.

I enjoyed it when it was bitchy because of people like republicana.

At least 6 years myself - March 2001ish I think.

I wonder who republicana who? is? An unreg asking who another unreg is.

There have been some good bitchy arguments in my time (5 years) on the sinner. I prefer the ones that deal specifically with St Andrews though, I mean we've all heard teh abortion arguments about a million times before.

Six and a half years, at least, in my case. I was certainly posting in the early months of 2001. And exnihilo is right - it was wild then.

Republicana was not me. (I don't think... I wouldn't have been bitchy at that time, and even now when I'm feeling bitchy, I'll write a post and then erase it.)

Us later ones can simply be classified as pre- or post- .net

Pre- all the way! (2003)

If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the substrate.

Since about October 2003 when I found a spider in the Melville salad.

Wasn't 'Republicana' Marco's and my old chum Emma? I remember S used to have some running battles with her at one stage.

Incidentally, it appears I made my first post in April of 2002 on the debates board (which was apparently something like the second or third post that was ever made there), but it took a discussion of things supernatural instigated by Carolyn to draw me out to the main board.

There also seems to be a period slightly later when the entire posting population seemed to consist of about six people in Melville...
