How do you watch non-UK TV here?

Postby TELE on Thu Oct 08, 2009 6:25 pm

Hey all,

How do you watch non-UK television here? Television is becoming a groundbreaking medium, and it must be studied. But how can I do so when they do not offer the important new texts here?

Thank you.

What sort of television do you want to watch? US TV? Foreign language TV? If so, which languages? I believe the language labs in the Buchanan let you watch various international TV stations.

Do not attempt to use UK TV to watch outside broadcasts.

You will require 1 x 80cm to 1.2m satellite dish. A positioner to drive said dish. A really good satellite receiver with DiSEqC or better still USALS and nice list of all the geo-stationary satellites with all the transponder and channel information. There are plenty of unencryped channels available that are non-UK, you just need to have the right kit.

As with anything in my life, the internet has the answers. If I want to watch non-UK television I can usually stream the program from a video hosting site or you could download your program via a torrent client but that's illegal so don't do that, I mean you wouldn't download a car...

Guys, stop skirting around the question. I'm sure we can directly reference links aggregators as they don't host copyrighted material.

www.surfthechannel.com links to a lot of stuff. What else is there?

Last time I used surfthechannel I found most of it just linked to Hulu now.

I usually go for the direct download method myself. That or torrent. Warez-bb.org normally has decent links.

[edit] But don't do that since it's illegal and naughty! Especially on resnet and they'll be sure to catch you when you direct download![/edit]
If you do physics, panic.

If I could download a car, I would do so immediately.

I've had pretty good luck with http://www.freeonlineepisodes.net/
It only allows you to watch a bit over an hour at a time and then wait an hour before the stream begins again, unless you shell out for the Megavideo subscription (which I have because I think it's kinda worth it).

And I for one got a kick out of your humorous attempt to justify the need for our American TV shows for personal edification. 8-)

You mean personal, intellectual edification, right?

How strange. You must be one of those people who just sees clouds in the Rorschach test. (I don't do psychology, promise)
