That list is at least missing Birmingham, Durham, Bogwall, Ancients (Glasgow, Strathclyde, and Edinburgh), and Dundee. Sadly, I don't have the results handy, though I'm sure if we dig through some old boards we could find them.

IV sec / people's web monkey?

Postby Connie on Fri Apr 14, 2006 10:01 am

OK, so I think that asking for all the results from all the IVs this year is taking this a bit far, and you obviously don't realise quite how many people St Andrews sends to some cometitions.
I would also like to point out that when we try to do things like post results from IVs on the sinner to let people know we get posts like after Dublin - 'who are not sure whether this thread applies to them or not'.
I find it rather ironic that people seem to want us to keep ourselves and our results to ourselves one moment, and then make demands like dredging up a years worth of results (rather than look through the old threads themselves) so they can somehow judge if we are inclusive and 'fically accountable'

So here goes...

Newcastle (already on sinner)

1. Durham B - 9 (3,3,3)
2. Oxford A - 8 (3,2,3)

I hope this shows that, in almost every case you HAVE been told how the IV speakers are getting on at competions.

I hope you can appreciate the amount of tie I have spent finding all these results and posting them on here. I do have better things to be doing.

I would also like to say that I was quite disappointed that, after making such a huge fuss on this forum, only one person other than those who usually come to training sessions actually came to the meeting I organised to discuss the format for Worlds trials.

For information: I did go through a years worth of Sinner Threads (only the ones with obvious IV titles). I knew there were big gaps, Mace still missing I know we were in the final again, because I knew the calander.

I just though that it would be nice to have a listing in one place rather than having to do what Connie (Thank's) and I have just done.

Well done to all

The Mace:

Jason & John in the final.

Aaron and Chris in the Semis.

Doug & Connie, Rachael & Oli in the second round.

Anish & Tom , Rob & Luke, in the first round.

In addition I topped the individual tab at Birmingham and Durham, in addition to Jason recieving a few best speaker in final awards.

Just while we're doing this it's also worth mentioning that as well as teams Dough came top of the tab at Glasgow out of all the speakers as well as finaling and St Andrews has also won several best speaker prizes in finals this year. (At least 2 that I can think of straight away.)

I'm not sure if we topped anyother tabs apart from Glasgow and Aberdeen but I'm sure someone knows.

I must say, all in all, a pretty impressive showing for St. Andrews. I ask this with considerable trepidation, but when was the last time we had a comparable level of success?

Also, a heartfelt thanks goes out to John Stewart and all those involved in our excellent training program. You've made this JYA's year.

We used to do pretty well, I think the current Society needs to shake itself of the conceit that it has reached unparallelled heights. Obviously our previous successes were in the bad old days where style counted for something, rather than simply vomiting forth facts. And you wonder why you can't fill LPH any more? Ha.

I just wanted this to be a list of results not a discussion forum.
So that there would be ONE place that people could go and find the results.

It is of course marginally more useful if you tell us which of these are St Andrews students, as I am sure the freshers are all lovely people but I don't know who they are yet....
