Or, rather than relying on people doing stuff Ian, you may often find it easier to find the information yourself.

Try here.

The Mace...

Postby kdc4 on Tue Oct 24, 2006 1:34 pm

It's that time again...

The Mace (a long-prep, knockout tournament with individual rounds scattered about Scotland against Scottish teams) has come upon us once more.

St. Andrews will be represented by six teams. Those interested in participating, please email Connie (cbg2).

According to britishdebate.com, St. Andrews has no recorded victories in the Scottish Mace since 1993, when the records begin (the record may be incomplete.. does anyone remember a Mace victory, ever?)

At any rate, it's been far too long since the Mace has been to St. Andrews.

Here's the Draw:
N.B. St. Andrews teams will be sent based on availability, rather than ranking (e.g. John and Jason went as st. a's F last year).

Motion: THW: Privatize Education.

Aberdeen

1P Aberdeen A 1O Edinburgh B
2P Strathclyde B 2O St Andrews D

Dundee

1P DUndee D 1O Dundee A
2P GUU D 2O GUU C

Edinburgh 1

1P Edinburgh D 1O St Andrews F
2P Edinburgh A 2O GUU B

Edinburgh 2

1P Aberdeen D 1O GUU F
2P Strathclyde D 2O Edinburgh C

GUU 1

1P Aberdeen B 1O Aberdeen E
2P GUU A 2O St Andrews C

GUU 2

1P Aberdeen F 1O Aberdeen C
2P St Andrews B 2O GUU E

Strathclyde

1P Strathclyde A 1O Dundee B
2P Dundee C 2O St Andrews E

St Andrews

1P Dundee E 1O Strathclyde C
2P St Andrews A 2O Strathclyde E

Remember this draw is final - NO swaps are allowed.

Iain

Not a perfect draw, by any means (why no teams in the Dundee Round??) but there are no 1st props, either, which substantially improves the odds of Connie and myself making it to round 2!

Cheers,

First Blood...

Postby kdc4 on Tue Nov 07, 2006 1:51 pm

St. Andrews is off an excellent start in the John Smith Memorial Mace. Chris and Rach took first in their GUU round and will advance to the quarters, along with GUU A (Adams and Brown). Aberdeen lost its B and E teams.

Well done to St. A's C; and best of luck to all teams due to compete.

Cheers,
-Doug

There was no demolition by anyone in the Edinburgh 1 round. Myself, Barney Ross & Will Clayton judged the round and it was incredibly tight between three teams. It was unfortunate that 3 such high quality teams were in the same first round.
