Durham Opens

Postby kdc4 on Mon Jun 19, 2006 5:25 pm

In Connie's absence, I suppose it falls to me to do the tab collation...

Durham Opens was good fun with copious amounts of alcoholic beverages, open motions, several debating legends (Neill Harvey-Smith in the flesh??), and good fun all round.

It was a tough competition, with Derek Lande, Niall Kennedy, and Jess Harvey-Smith all failing to break, but St. Andrews acquitted itself quite well (and much better than Glasgow)!

The full tab is at British Debate, for those who can be bothered to care.

The highlights:

Team Tab:

1. The Devil and Miss Jones (Illsley and Jones)- 11pts. (668)
2. Togo- (Neill Harvey-Smith and Sam Block)- 11 pts (665)
3. Durham B (Simons and Hamilton)- 10pts (646)
4. We've Eaten Connie (Grandmother Goose and the Hobo King)- 10pts. (644)

*****

18. We've Shaved Anish- (Whitbread and Cahn)- 5 pts. (597)
23. The Circle of Love and Trust- (Connor and Jennings)- 5 pts (569)

32. GUU D- (Butterly and Hislop) -0pts (495)

Individuals Tab:

1. Derek Lande- 338
2. Neill Harvey-Smith- 337
3. Will Jones- 336
4. Tiernan Fitzgibbon- 334

10. Grandmother Goose (Jason)- 322
10. The Hobo King (Doug)-322
28. Tom (292)
31. Rachael (290)
34. Beth (289)
47. Alex- (280)

62. Kenneth Hislop (247)

Final: (Jason and I ran whaling permits on an open motion...)

1st Prop- We've Eaten Connie
1st Opp- Durham B
2nd Prop- Togo
2nd Opp- Devil and Miss Jones

Winners: Devil and Miss Jones

Cheers all & Good Luck to those who go to Koc,
-Doug
