Name that gown

Postby Dave the Explosive Newt on Thu Jun 29, 2006 12:55 pm

My new office has come with a pair of gowns (only in St Andrews, eh), both of which seem to be BA gowns, however one of them is an off grey-green colour. Does this have any special significance or has it just been through the wash a time too many?

It might be historic. Dan Rutherford (Late Professor of Applied Mathematics at the university) had just such a gown. Prof Rutherford had a lecturing technique which involved talking into the blackboard so that he could write on it with the right hand, and delete the writing with the duster in the left. The gown was required to eliminate any chance you might see what was written under his armpits.

Eeeentersting. The history of the office, as far as I can remember is Dr Peter Nelson -> Dr David Sinclair -> current medical demonstrators. Unless identified otherwise, I'm tempted to dub this thing the 'Senior Medical Student Gown' and claim it as my own.

That will only work if you are the 'Senior Medical Student'.

True. But then he would have to share it. Or hide it.

Or tell the other senior medical students to get their own.
