TCD IV

Postby lem55 on Sun Jan 25, 2009 5:23 pm

Despite illness and extremely delayed flights, most of the St Andrews TCD contingent managed to make the trip across to Dublin. In a tournament that saw a number of interesting developments such as teams you would think would make the break knocking each other out (save Steve Nolan and Art Ward who were knocked out of the break by the World Schools team) and a pair of fantatic freshers from UCD winning the final-Julia Lawlor and Rebecca.

Congratulations to James and Claire for breaking 8th to the quarter-finals and to Jess for breaking as a judge. Also well done to all of the freshers who did very well-Sarah and Jack were in a break room in the last round which is fantastic.

Team Tab:

1. UCD L 2 3 2 3 3 13
2. Cambridge B 2 3 3 1 3 12
3. Middle Temple 1 3 3 3 2 12

7. Oxford JQ 3 2 1 3 2 11
8. St Andrews A (James and Claire) 3 2 0 3 3 11

Yes! Congrats to all! What excellent fun! I'm so impressed with James and Claire. Nice.

Genuinely great showing from St Andrews all around.

I believe James Beadle will post soon about the discrepancy between speaker points shown on the team tab vs on the speaker tab (though this did not affect the break).

TCD messed up their tab by incorrectly totalling the number of speaker points that each team had; this affected the ordering of teams in each group of team points. This was an issue as one team on 9 team points broke and the incorrect ranking of teams meant that the team from UCD that went on to win the competition should not have broken and Art Ward and Steve Nolan should have instead.
