Inter Res!

Postby Quelle on Wed Feb 25, 2009 10:57 pm

Hi Everyone!
Thanks to everyone that came to the competition today and the final this evening. Also thanks again to the Judges, the Swing team and special thanks to Rachel for being a great CA and for hand-tabbing the team tab! I hope everyone had a great time, especially those who had never debated before and I hope to see you all at the inter-res next year.
The final was amazing, with some great speeches from everyone on the table. However, a decision had to be made and therefore the winner of this years inter-res was Erika and Anthony of DRA! Congratulations!

Thanks,

Can individuals ask for feedback? I.e., tips, where they specifically went wrong,...

Hey Guys,

Here's the team tab from the day:

(For those of you who are new to this, the numbers below are points amassed during the day. If you took first in a room, you get 3 points, second = 2 points, third = 1 point and fourth = 0)

Swingers 3 3 3 = 9 (non-breaking team)
DRA 3 1 2 = 6
McIntosh C 1 3 2 = 6
JBH Duffy 2 3 1 = 6
JBH Take Two 3 0 3 = 6

New Hall 2 2 0 = 4
McIntosh B 1 0 3 = 4
Crichton Montrose 0 2 2 = 4
Regs B 2 1 1 = 4
Regs A 1 2 0 = 3
McIntosh A 0 0 1 = 1
Regs C 0 1 0 = 1

Congratulations to all the teams in the final for a great debate, and especially to DRA for winning!

Thanks go to Kelly for co-CAing brilliantly and to all the judges who gave up their afternoon and evening: cheers guys!

If anyone would like individual feedback, I would suggest emailing/facebooking your chair judges from individual rounds and asking for them to give you a quick reply with some details of why the results went the way they did. I would advise doing this asap though, because we tend to forget these things quickly!

Out of curiousity how did I get a score of 72 in the final round when I wasn't there?

I'm very flattered of course, just confused.

I imagine that was my second speaker mark, John. (I would have had two marks in that round.) I didn't do very well; I was too tired to 'iron man' with any success. Two superlatively crapulent speeches.

I have never seen you give a bad speach owen. Off topic maybe. Philosphical maybe. A violent knifing, robbing and desecrating of your partner, or preceding team, maybe. But they are always enjoyable to listen to. I don't necessary understand them, but that also applies to the British Shipping Forcast, and indeed Mile's speaches.
