The Scottish government is currently planning to introduce new legislation on the sale of knives. This is all well and good except they've tacked on a bit at the end that will effectively ban the sale of swords. Basically they're trying to stop neds hacking at each other with cheap katanas but they do not define exactly what counts as a sword and this could have dire consequences for martial arts, re-enactment and potentially even sports fencing (although this is unlikely). Imagine being unable to attend events because you can get arrested for carrying even a blunt weapon in public.
