IRONMAN - (tayforth)

anyone out there doing it???
if so, what sort of training are you doing, and how often.
also, how fast are the competitors and what sort of times should i be aiming at for each sub event?
thinking: bike 2 - 2half hours , swim 50mins- 1hr , run 2 hours- 2 hrs 15mins, does that sound right???
any advice would be excellent!
cheers

Hey, if you got the email, its the 27th march and it involves cycling from Culty to Dundee (55 miles), 85 lengths of a 25m pool and running from Dundee to St Andrews (16 miles). If you're interested, you should try contacting Alice at tayforth_ironman@yahoo.co.uk.
Hope this helps,
Eleanor

hmm, that seems like quite a challenge, one that would require a lot of training. my advice: don't stick to only one of the three, train for them all. if you go into it having done, say, no swimming training, the swim could end up injuring you quite badly. you should probably be training daily, but if you're not build it up over the next few weeks, and don't push too hard in the few days/week before the event.

edit: also stick to your strengths, if you're a confident runner don't go too hard on the bike/swim during the race but go out fast on the run.
