I'm an American who will be going to St. Andrews in the fall and I am interested in joining the sporting clays club at St. Andrews. How large is the club and is it very competitive? Anybody w/ any info would be terrific

The St andrews clay pigeon shooting club is fairly large; about 100 paid up members, though only about 10-20 tend to show up for each session. We shoot at a country sports ground about 40 minutes away, twice a week. Once a year we also host scotland's largest student clay shooting competion.
We would not describe ourselves as fantastically competative, the social side is very important to us. We cater for everyone from complete beginners who have never held a gun before, to those who have been shooting all their lives.
