The Crucible

Postby Proctor on Fri Oct 26, 2007 5:12 pm

Written as an allegory for the McCarthy era when the Red Scare infiltrated all aspects of American life, Arthur Miller’s ‘The Crucible’ takes us back to Salem, Massachusetts as the infamous Salem Witch trials are beginning. We are soon sucked into a whirl of events that threaten all of the town’s inhabitants.

From the haunted John Proctor to the conniving and vindictive Abigail, Miller’s characters are complex and driven by their own selfish desires. In the end, the town’s most respected citizens are put on trial as witches by a group of young girls while an idealistic outsider struggles with his own conceptions of good and evil.

INON Productions has re-imagined Miller’s classic as an exploration of our own witch hunts in today’s frightening world of terrorism and political intrigue.

An INON Production in association with Mermaids and the Antony Tudor Fund.
