The greatest f***arse ever written

By Alfred Jarry
Translated and adapted by Martin Danziger and the company
Songs and lyrics by Nick Underwood
Directed by Martin Danziger

"A twisted work of genius." Total Theatre Magazine

Jarry's notorious masterpiece rips its way onto stage led by the foul Pa Ubu, leaving a behind trail of destroyed illusions, conventions and manners. A grotesque and violent piece; part farce, part parody, part tragedy, is an enraging and intriguing satire of the grubbing, grabbing middle classes, led by the greedy, gluttonous coward, Ubu himself.

A highly physical production brings out the exuberant, hysterical and disturbing excess. Combining grotesque clowning and cabaret with infectious, atmospheric music, and an eye-opening visual narrative, it provokes, it shocks, it makes you laugh, but it also tears off the mask of respectability.
