PG Society Meeting

Postby Rachel Marsh on Thu Oct 13, 2005 9:55 pm

Our next meeting will be at 5:30 18 October in the Main Bar of the Union. We will elect officers, so if you're interested in running or even voting please make sure you stop by. The positions that are open are Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Socials Convener and President (for nominations only, must be elected through Student's Association election).

Don't forget that there are also SSC and SRC positions open with the Student's Association.

At the meeting we will also be discussing plans for the rest of the year. So far
a Christmas getaway, a Winter Ball and Guy Fawkes Bonfire have been discussed.

I think that postgraduate students are, by definition, mad.

Very true; however, whoever gets saddled with trying to run a PG ball is a special kind of madman.

Scoff if you will; however, the PG Society for several years was unable to run any events at all because they had pumped all of the available cash into running balls which flopped miserably.

Let me be honest here. I wouldn't go near a postgrad ball with a ten foot pole. Save the money and use it for free booze at a party.

Sadly, you can't just buy £3000 worth of booze and throw it at the PG community. While it would be an epic night to remember, you'd never wring the money out of the Union for such a purpose.

That said, you could never wring it out of them for a PG-only Ball either, but that's another story.
