Ideas for bands - semester 2

Some absolutely brilliant songs - their tour schedule looks pretty full, but there may be some gaps - just about to release their debut album and have support from Zane Lowe.

I hear Snow Patrol & Franz Ferdinand are about to embark on some major tours - perhaps they want a 'warm-up' gig somewhere...... ;-p

If we want some Drum & Bass, then we could do a lot worse that try Subfocus

- particularly this tune.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x1hNAsYhAHQ

The beeb tips Empire of The Sun as well http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/7766425.stm

All the bands there may be worth considering, get them while they're cheap and all that.
If you do physics, panic.

What about local bands? Isn't that what musfund is for?

There are plenty of plans afoot to get local bands in and playing too!

That would be a good point to raise at a meeting of the sub committee if you feel musfund isn't doing its job Spike.

I would just like to say - I tipped Empire of the Sun and White Lies - both make it into the top 5 for the BBC's Sound of 2009. Hopefully they will both be big and then I can feel even more smug o.O ^.^

What do I win? A cookie? Mmm, yes please....

As far as I'm aware, Camera Obscura are releasing a new album at some point in 2009, and will be touring at some point to promote it.
I'm not entirely sure how well they'd sell outside of their native Glasgow, but they might be worth having a look at, I guess...

Starsailor... I remember them from many a year ago. Haven't heard much about them since perhaps 2003 though!
