The £100 tourney was changed into a £20 rebuy tourney before I got there.

For my £40 (buy in + top up) i split with one other guy at the end and won the tournament, taking £520 for myself. Less £45 to dealers that left me £435 profit on saturday :)

The sunday tournament was a horror story. After rebuys I was a massive chip lead. I then began the double up short stack show. I got outdrawn with A8 against A5. Then missed opportunity to take out 2 players with my K2. Why K2? I read it right, one of them had AJ, and the other AQ, i was actually a marginal favourite preflop!

I then raised all in with 88, only to have a smaller stack call all in with JJ, then finally went all in with AK, called by QQ and I lost the race :P lol! it does happen, just hate it when it happens to me!

As for realistic winnings, dont think about it :P It is entirely possible to play for an hour and have the same amount you started with, such is the nature of cash games.

Reality of Poker

Postby christian_harris on Mon Aug 16, 2004 11:25 am

If you are a winning poker player you are in a very, very small minority. Hourly winnings don't matter; if you consistently find yourself in profit then you can be pleased with your efforts.

Keep track of your play, analyse it, and work on your shortcomings.

well done flanks and unlucky at the same time, enjoy these wins while you still can....soon you'll have to cope with being on the final table with a certain chris harvey...

christian, i tried total poker as you suggested a while back. Had some success, although problem is there are so few players, only about 1 or 2 tables to play on at each limit. but picked up 20 dollars so far and i do like the graphics, plus while playing you can listen to a funky piano playing classical music to keep oneself chilled out which is good. Also, on a more random element to total poker, about half the players are turkish.

Total Poker

Postby christian_harris on Mon Aug 16, 2004 1:22 pm

I've never played on there, but what you say ties in with what I've heard. It sounds like an easy place to win though - lots of weak aces being shown down and mucked, lots of bottom pairs called to the river etc etc

Total Poker

oh boy, if you get good cards on total poker you should make a lot
although there are some sound players there.
I didnt win anything though! Had some real bad beats such as QKA flops, i have 10J, maximum betting throughout till river Q, i just call, he has AQ...arrghh. Plus lost another big one, KK me, vs AA, no flush so lost big. But overall should do well fingers crossed!

Keep us informed then.

I might have to try it out, although, as I've said, I get easily bored by limit poker!

Total Poker Update!!!

Postby womble chris on Tue Aug 17, 2004 11:09 am

played 2 hours last night and 2.5 hours this morning and here are my A-Level Revsion Book style key points:

- last night, up $100 playing 2-4
today up $25, played 2-4, went up $50, then down $50 (awful bad beats) then won a $123 pot on $4-$8 flopping the boat, then tried silly bluff so ended up up $25.

-anyways, to the points

-Turks love to call.

-This is a site where you get called so much. great when you hit the big hand vs one/two players and win. annoying when you hit top two pair on flop, bet, all 4 others call, and one of them hits a runner runner staight. really annoying.

-good place to make profit although is annoying at times.

-cant play more than one table at once which is a shame.

-do not try to bluff...ever...

-very nice graphics

-chronic lack of tables/players, no more than 2 tables at each limit, often only 1.

overall, good site to win at limit poker so long as you play tight, but is very frustrating as you tend to win the smaller pots with 1-2 other players and lose the big pots with 3-4 other players with silly callers.

not the easiest to navigate, or to socialise in I have to say. But for limit poker, the console is good and uncomplicated.

And how did you find the play? Agree with Chris?

Tight-agressive + playing strictly by pot odds = easy money???

yup, no-ones playing 2-4 so i have to play 3-6 which is a bit too high considering i only have 100 in my account after cashout, so at the moment on like 48 and get afford two bad beats (well even just one!), ah well, lets hope i get some cards though....
