I was just wondering if the society's dvd player does region 1 discs?--'cause i'm the cleverest moron ever to roam and have spent some of my santa money by myself--suppose i should have twigged when the shipping box said "FLORIDA"--hmm..

I'm pretty sure our DVD player can play any region - we have a few region 1 discs ourselves.

What was it that you bought? Maybe we can show it one night ^_^

I got "3x3 Eyes"--which turned out to be an american dub-they've almost killed it but not quite--, and "Samurai X" (& the 1st7 of fotns)-why the brackets?--am i ashamed?--i think not--AND THE FIRST SEVEN OF "FIST OF THE NORTH STAR"!---don't know if ppl want these :( but i would recommend a wee peek at 3x3eyes despite the dub..

Welcome back Fiona (and eveyone else too of course) the DVD player is indeed a multiregion. It is actually easier to get DVD's from Japan as they are region 2, the same us us, which is a little odd.

DVD's are encoded with a 'region', presumably to stop piracy, but with multiregion players (and multiregion discs) its become more of an irritation, especially to those who want DVD's that are only out in America. The regions are:

1: U.S., Canada, U.S. Territories
2: Japan, Europe, South Africa, and Middle East (including Egypt) (Us)
3: Southeast Asia and East Asia (including Hong Kong)
4: Australia, New Zealand, Pacific Islands, Central America, Mexico, South America, and the Caribbean
5: Eastern Europe (Former Soviet Union), Indian subcontinent, Africa, North Korea, and Mongolia
6: China (Not including Hong Kong = weird)
7: Reserved (God knows who for)
8: Special international venues (airplanes, cruise ships, etc.)
0: Will play in any region player

A Multiregion player will play all of these discs, in theory. Beware of dodgy DVD's from Singapore that don't work!

No one should feel ashamed at liking FOTNS.
The DVD player is multi-region. This is an Official Statement By Me.
