The AGM has come and gone: Behold, the new Godhan... Committee!!!

Postby PaddyW on Tue Apr 19, 2005 6:07 pm

The AGM was held on 18th May. The meeting was not quorate, so if anyone wants to challenge the election results, you have two weeks to do so, during which time this committee will sit.

This is the new executive committee:

President: Patrick Welsh (AKA Me- pw23)
Vice-President, Political Officer: Alexander Nelson (ajn1)
Treasurer: Christopher Noble (ckmn)
Secretary: Fiona Carmichael (fmc9)

Other, non-executive positions:

Seat-Tester: Gavin Service (gs98)
Illumination Consultant: Richard Whitty
(rlw26)
Tech Priest: Andrew Reid (air2)
Legal Alien: Marek Sobieski (mjs47)

In addition, we co nfirmed that the society is evil and power-mad, multi-lingual and likes giant robots. Andrew has promised not to show Puny Puny Poemy again. Gendo Ikari is evil. We have confirmed we do not want to watch Fist of the North Star. Except maybe the film.

Peace, out.

Patrick Welsh (President-elect)

Acceptance Speech and Policy Statement

As I don’t want to go to sleep just yet and my brain is still running, I think it’s time to state my main policies:

1. Promote Evil. Particularly, further my goal of Evil Overlordship. Both in my role as Vice-President and in general
2. Veto with Extreme Prejudice any attempts to show Legend of the Overfiend, or anything of its ilk. As Mister President had decreed that such a thing would only be shown over his dead and exorcised body, we can use said body to pummel those responsible to a bloody pulp with.
3. Put up posters with pretty pictures on them. Posters with pretty pictures are my speciality.
4. Rant. Lots
5. More Giant Robots, less Magic Girls. Chicks, Geeks and the Adeptus Mechanicus all dig giant robots.
6. I will be pushing for the showing of Cowboy Bebop in preference to Outlaw Star. Although I realise that getting both may be a good policy, showing both would be rather inappropriate as they’re pretty frelling similar in style and I like Bebop better.
7. A VHS player will be purchased, while we still can.
8. To confirm, Fist of the North Star will not be shown in its entirety, particularly because the plot is, shall we say, somewhat predictable. The film may be shown at some point. The new version (which has animation and a budget) will likely be got and may be shown when it reaches these wind-tossed shores.
9. Meetings of The Committee are likely to happen in our flat. There will be official announcements of officialnessness beforehand, and there may be biscuits (but not punch and/or pie, and any chocolate you can keep your grubby little paws off).

And remember; be nice to dragons, for you are crunchy, and go well with ketchup.

I'll probably buy Outlaw Star myself if the society doen't want to because I want to see it in Japanese, despite a decent(ish) dub. BTW Alex the series of Cowboy Bebop is apparantly not as good as the film (a shame). If I/we can get hold of the new FOTNS I think that will be worth showing. Who said the cowboy bebop series isn't as good as the film? I loved the series and i actually thought the film was just like an extended episode - you miss all the great storyline-ness by not watching the series :P

Not one for the society, and we need one that playes NTSC tapes as well as PAL ideally. We also need a less rubbish DVD player.
