Semester 2 playlist

Postby General Porkov on Fri Dec 06, 2002 2:37 pm

This is Da Prez speaking!

Well, we've managed to sort out the 2nd semester playlist and coming up will be:

2x26 episodes series - Cowboy Bebop and Slayers Next on DVD (You get to choose whether or not we watch in Japanese subbed or English dub)
3 episodes per week of each series

2x Films - Knocking on Heaven's Door (Cowboy Bebop movie) and Akira in week 6

We will be showing over 10 weeks from week 1 of semester 2.

Also, we will be having the AGM in the last week of term 2 on March 24, 2003!

See you in February!

Yours, Da Prez

Semester 2 Film Night ideas

Postby Rezo on Sat Dec 07, 2002 11:01 am

Instead of Akira, how about a Urusei Yatsura movie, or Read Or Die?

Also, anyone who has ideas on a Sunday film/series night should post them here. I'm in favour of one or two nights showing the series Now and Then, Here and There (dark futuristic sci-fi, 13 episodes) or Photon (futuristic sci-fi comedy, 6 episodes).

Which movies?

Postby General Porkov on Thu Dec 12, 2002 12:00 am

Which movies were you referring to?

Akira is set in post-World War 3 New Tokyo in the 2020's. 30 or so years after World War 3 and Tokyo has a big, deadly secret that could cause big havoc

Cowboy Bebop movie- ask Per!

Read or Die (if it can be got in time) - About a special agent working for the British Library. She can do papermancy - magic involving paper

Read Or Die - That's not magic, that's a super-ability!

Another Sunday night idea - Banner of the Stars series (the sequel to Crest of the Stars)

Oh, I'm all in favour of that. Or, indeed, any of the suggestions made previously. Particularly this one, as I'm a sucker for sequels.

Whilst I like Akira, I've seen it many times before. Is there anyone in the society who hasn't? Because if not, I'd be tempted to show something else.

An alternative to Akira?

Postby General Porkov on Tue Jan 07, 2003 7:55 pm

Here's an idea! Instead of showing Akira on week 6, how about showing Princess Mononoke?
I got it on DVD for £5 during the holidays

Just a thought

Haven't we already shown Princess Mononoke? Or am I imagining it? Nonetheless, it would be nice to show more Miyazaki.

Mononoke was good, but what other ones do we have?
