this was the first anime film i ever saw and got me into it inthe first place but i've never seen it anywhere since.
it was sort of fantsy but with airships and a floating city with robots this young girl could control.
this boy ang girl join this bunch of airship pirates and go in search of the floating city.
the ending is when the boy and girl use a command that blows up some of the floating city and the rest flies off.
there's also this crazy government guy with his own HUGE airship after the robots that lie dormant in the floating city.
if anyone could give me a hand or know of someone who could i would be most grateful.

Yes, it is Laputa. It was the first anime movie I watched as well.

Finding someone who can make a copy for you, will be difficult. It was never commercially released on tape. The good news is, if you own a multi-region or Region 1 DVD player, that Laputa is being released on DVD in April this year, by Disney.

Its Laputa castle in the skyby Hayao Miyazaki.

It was one of my first anime too! http://www.nausicaa.net has info about it. It also shows the other anime that Hayao Miyazaki made.
