Open Mic Night

As you may or may not have heard Rocksoc have agreed a deal with Musfund to have an open mic night on March 10th. No doubt more details will follow but just wondering who is planning on doing stuff. The more the merrier as they say, ive got a few ideas for things but just trying to gauge who else has got a band/song/ditty/poem they want to perform.

Forgive my ignorance but I thought Open Mic Nights were for stand-up comedy...is this one just a sort of free-for-all-no-holds-barred-twisted-sort-of-talent-show?

Sort of, open mic in regards you got a song you want to sing or guitar/bass/kazoo/drum/clarinet/steel drums piece you want to play then thats the night you can do so.

And yeah Dom that is a bit ignorant...there are plenty of open mic music nights around . The night will be split into two parts...the open mic part, and then we also have a couple of bands playing sets...and as Zak said...more details to follow...

You might want to check, I'm in the orchestra and was told there's a rehearsal in Venue 1 on the 10th until some as yet unspecified time but at least 8/9pm. Sounds like someone's got their knickers mixed up and its probably the Union.

Right here are more details for you fuckers.

March 10th, 9pm, Beer bar Rocksoc Live! So far the confirmed bill for the bands is;

Rape Ahoy! - 2 men and a laptop singing about retards.

Alex, Fraser, Grant, Marcus and Marc (or too lazy to think of a fucking band name) - Metal covers from the likes of Pantera and Septultura.

Alrosa - Dundee/Glasgow ambience, influenced by Botch, Neurosis and ISIS.

Arse to Mouth - The Wild West meets Fred West, 'nuf said.

Screwed, Blued and Tatooted (It is now right, i have corrected it..)- Classic rock and metal covers to finish this awesome night off.

Now these are just the confirmed bands by all means if you want to come along and perform a song, haiku, poem, spoken word thingy or whatever else but pop along that night and the mic and whatever else you require will be yours. Storage areas can be provided if you wish to bring along guitars etc.
